Design Within Reach vs CB2

What's the difference between Design Within Reach and CB2

Design Within Reach focuses on creating and sourcing furniture that is meant to be enjoyed over a lifetime. They prioritize exceptional craftsmanship, durability, and beautiful design. They believe in inspiring and problem-solving designs. They offer free design services to help customers create a space they love coming home to. The company was founded in 1998 when the founder struggled to find clean, simple classics for his apartment. Design Within Reach quickly gained popularity among architects, interior designers, and the general public. They became known for bringing iconic brands like Herman Miller directly to retail customers through catalogs. On the other hand, CB2 is described as cool and edgy with a focus on modern furniture for lofts, apartments, and houses of all sizes. Their pieces often have an urban twist and are designed with city-living in mind – small in scale and multifunctional. CB2 offers affordable furniture options suitable for first apartments or any space that needs a fresh, fun touch. CB2 provides modern furniture for every room including bedroom sets with contemporary details like matte metal finishes and clean lines. They also offer office desks, bookshelves, dining tables, quirky kitchenware, creative home decor items such as lighting fixtures, art pieces, accessories like black flatware or animal-shaped accents. In terms of their locations and community involvement: CB2 has fifteen stores across the US in trendy neighborhoods known for their artistic flair and modern style. They also have international locations in Toronto and Vancouver where they host community-building events like concerts or fundraisers. When it comes to product certifications: Design Within Reach holds FSC Certified status (Forest Stewardship Council) as well as OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification which ensures textiles are free from harmful substances. Similarly, CB2 also holds these certifications but does not possess any additional certifications related to their products. Both retailers participate in equitable labor programs; however Design Within Reach is involved with Fair Trade Certified™ program and the FSC certification for their wood products. On the other hand, CB2 supports Black-owned businesses through their participation in the Fifteen Percent Pledge. Lastly, Design Within Reach claims to offer products made with organic cotton whereas CB2 does not make any claims regarding unverified sustainable benefits.
